Website speed test (Core Web Vitals)

See how fast your page loads on mobile and desktop, measured by Google; we’ll list the improvements that save the most time, in order of priority.

The test runs on Google PageSpeed Insights and can take 20–60 seconds.

What are Core Web Vitals?

Real-user data is collected from Chrome users over the last 28 days and is the data Google uses for rankings. The lab test, by contrast, is a one-off test for finding problems.

  • LCP (Largest Contentful Paint): how long the main content takes to load; under 2.5 seconds is good
  • INP (Interaction to Next Paint): how fast the page responds to clicks; below 200 ms is good
  • CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift): how much the page shifts while loading; below 0.1 is good
  • FCP and TTFB: when the first content appears and the server’s first response

Frequently asked questions

Why is my mobile score lower than desktop?
The mobile test runs with a slower processor and network connection. Since Google uses mobile-first indexing, improving the mobile score comes first.
Why is there no real-user data?
A page needs enough visits to be included in the Chrome UX Report. Without that data, the lab test gives you guidance.
Why does the score change with every test?
Network and server conditions vary slightly from test to test, so a swing of a few points is normal. Test the same page at different times to see the trend.
