SEO return on investment (ROI) calculator

Enter your current traffic, conversion rate and earnings per customer to see how much extra revenue organic traffic growth would bring you and when the investment would pay for itself.

How is it calculated?

Organic traffic grows cumulatively: content and backlinks take effect over months, and traffic continues for a while even after you stop paying. The calculation assumes the month in which the growth has fully kicked in.

  • Extra visitors: current monthly organic visitors × expected growth rate
  • Extra customers: extra visitors × conversion rate
  • Extra profit: extra customers × average earnings per customer × profit margin
  • ROI: (extra profit − monthly cost) ÷ monthly cost

Frequently asked questions

What is a realistic traffic increase?
With regular content and technical improvements, organic traffic growth of 30–100% within 6–12 months is common; results depend on your industry, competition and starting point. It can’t be guaranteed.
How do I work out earnings per customer?
Use your average order value or the revenue a customer brings you in a year; for service businesses, the average job value is a good starting point.
Why does the calculation use profit?
Profit, not revenue, shows the real return on investment. If you don’t know your profit margin, enter a reasonable estimate for your industry.
