How is the position measured?
The position you see in your own browser may differ because of your location and search history.
- The search runs in the country and on the device you choose, as a signed-out user would see it; personal search history doesn’t affect the result
- The top 50 organic results are checked; if your site isn’t among them, “50+” is shown
- Your ranking page, the top three results and whether the search has an AI Overview are shown
- The result of the same search is stored for 24 hours; if you check again during the day, you’ll see the same result

Why do I see a different position in my own search?
Google personalizes results based on location, device and past searches. Because this tool measures the unpersonalized result, it reflects the overall picture more accurately.
How many keywords can I check?
